The Centers for Disease Control is recommending everyone, ages 5 and older, be vaccinated for COVID-19, and that all adults get a COVID booster if it’s been at least six months since their second dose of Pfizer or Moderna; or, if it has been at least two months since they received the single dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine. Vaccines and boosters are widely available in the community at local pharmacies, urgent care clinics and some primary health care providers. Currently, 48.4 per cent of Allegany County residents are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as compared to the state figure of 69 per cent.
