The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office has a few more weeks to persuade as many local governments as possible to accept a federal opioid settlement. The amount the commonwealth would ultimately receive depends on how many counties and municipalities sign on by the January 2nd deadline. The A.G.’s office says the fewer counties that sign-on, the smaller the total amount would be for Pennsylvania. About 232-million dollars optimally would be available toward addressing opioids damage. In signing on, local governments would give up their rights to sue the drug’s manufacturers and distributors on their own.
