It’s time to move forward on President Biden’s stalled Build Back Better bill. That’s what White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters, one day after West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin said he cannot support it. Senate Democrats need Manchin’s vote to get the bill approved. Psaki sidestepped numerous questions about her harsh criticism of Manchin in a weekend statement. She said Manchin and President Biden remain longtime friends. Manchin is a moderate Democrat who has been troubled by the scope and spending in the nearly two-trillion-dollar bill, which aims to widen the social safety net and attack climate change.
