Maryland is reporting a new pandemic high in COVID-19 infections. State health department data shows Maryland added more than 6200 cases, which is a single-day record. The count of new cases eclipses the previous one-day high of nearly 3800 cases on December 4th of 2020. It’s not clear if the tally was impacted by a cyber attack that affected state health department computers. Meanwhile, the statewide positivity rate jumped by nearly 1.4 percent, to over 11.6 percent. Coronavirus hospitalizations increased by nearly 50, to almost 1400 patients.
