Following several weeks of not having data from the Maryland Department of Health, county-level case counts and other statistics are now available. Since December 3rd-when statistics were last available-there have been 935 new COVID cases; According to MDH, there have been 21 deaths in Allegany County; that is a discrepancy, as 25 deaths were reported on Tuesday. The local positivity rate is 14.86 per cent, while the state rate is at 19.31 per cent. Currently, 48.9 per cent of Allegany County residents are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, compared to 70.4 per cent of all Maryland residents.
