The Centers for Disease Control has expanded the eligibility of COVID-19 vaccine boosters for those 12 to 15 years old. A vaccine clinic will be held on Wednesday at the Allegany County Fairgrounds. The latest figures show there have been 310 new COVID cases since January 6th and two additional deaths. The local positivity rate is 20.79 per cent, while the state rate is 28.3 per cent. Allegany County continues to lag behind most of the state in COVID-19 vaccination rates. Currently only 49.2 per cent of Allegany County residents are fully vaccinated against COVID, as compared to 70.9 per cent of all Maryland residents.
