A winter tradition is being postponed by a couple of months. The 26th annual Maryland State Polar Bear Plunge is being pushed back to March. Organizers say while they are moving forward with safe in-person events for the plunge, they believe the correct option is to postpone the event until March. Over the years the plunge has expanded to include a variety of events including Plungefest Weekend. Officials say the Super Plunge will be rescheduled to March 18th through the 20th, with Coal Schools Plunge occurring on March 24th, the Corporate Police Military, EMT and Firefighters Plunge will be staged on March 25th and the Maryland Plunge and Plungefest will happen on March 26th. Officials say they will continue to monitor the circumstances around the pandemic and will make further adjustments to the event if needed.
