Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot is making another push to extend the state’s gas tax holiday. During Wednesday’s Board of Public Works’ meeting, he called on the General Assembly to extend the tax holiday before the legislative session adjourns on Monday. The 36-cent-per-gallon gas tax is on hold through April 16th, but Franchot says it should be continued for another 60 days beyond that. He says the state can afford to extend the tax break because of the historic seven-point-six-billion-dollar budget surplus.
