GOVERNOR VETOES SEVERAL BILLS PASSED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Governor Larry Hogan has vetoed several bills passed by the General Assembly. Most of the measures were passed with enough votes for an override. The vetoed bills include the Time to Care Act requiring employers to give workers up to 12 weeks of paid leave. The governor says he’s concerned about the burden that would place on small business. Another vetoed measure would allow personnel other than doctors to perform abortions. Hogan says the bill endangers the health and lives of women. The Maryland House and Senate are convening today to take up veto overrides.
