The visual of 61 burnt orange safety vests on the steps of the State Capitol was the backdrop of Tuesday’s Work Zone Awareness Week rally.  Each of the vests represent a construction worker who was killed on the job.  State Troopers will once again be cracking down on anyone violating the safety laws in work zones.  West Virginia actually has one of the best safety records in the country, but have still had 21 deaths between 2017 and 2021.  This summer, more than 800 paving projects on West Virginia roads will create restrictions, and strict rules, to protect those doing the work.
