MARYLAND COVID TRANSMISSION RATE LOW, DESPITE CASE RISE

The CDC’s transmission rate for COVID remains “low” in every Maryland jurisdiction despite a recent rise in cases.  The state recorded 786 new cases on Friday, pushing the positivity rate over three percent for the first time in nearly two-months.  The state health department reports three additional deaths related to the virus.  COVID hospitalizations had been falling recently, but 15 new coronavirus patients are being treated in hospitals.   Of the 144 people occupying hospital beds, two dozen are in the intensive care unit, including one pediatric patient.
