QUECREEK SURVIVOR DIES AT 68

One of the men rescued inside the Quecreek mine in 2002, has died. Sixty-eight-year-old Dennis H. “Harpo” Hall passed away Friday at the Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center Johnstown at the age of 68. He was the seven men pulled from 240 feet underground at the Somerset County mine during the early morning hours of July 28, 2002, following a 77-hour rescue effort. Hall had said after his rescue that he would return to mining one day, but never did. The “Nine for Nine” miracle rescue is now part of The Monument for Life Memorial Park.
