PA. HOUSE BILL WOULD DO AWAY WITH RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT

A bill that would eliminate a county residency requirement for Pennsylvania’s partisan poll watchers was approved by the House State Government Committee on Wednesday. The measure would allow poll watchers to have a clear view of the pre-canvassing and counting of ballots. All the opponents to the bill were Democrats, who raised concerns that the idea would lead to voter and poll worker intimidation. Supporters say the measure is needed to restore confidence in state elections.
