Local basketball legend Steve Vandenberg died Tuesday at the age of 75. He excelled at Allegany High School in both basketball and baseball, and was known as an exceptional player for the Duke University Blue Devils. He is survived by his long-time partner, Monica Hast; his sister, Mary Jo Wolters, grandsons, a daughter-in-law, his dog, Bella, and many beloved family members and close friends. A celebration will be held next Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Hast Farm.
