Thousands of Marylanders are hitting the roads this holiday weekend and Triple-A says the statewide average for regular gas is around four-dollars-77-cents a gallon. On Friday the state’s gas tax has increased by seven cents per gallon because of a 2013 law that automatically raises it on July 1 based on the inflation rate. Earlier this year, the state held a 30-day gas tax holiday which lowered prices by about 36-cents per gallon. Despite calls from both Republicans and Democrats in the state, legislative leaders are not considering any similar action.
