PA. REPRESENTATIVE TO HAVE NAME REMOVED FROM BALLOT

Pennsylvania State Representative Matthew Dowling, who represents parts of Somerset County, is having his named removed from the November general election ballot, and plans to retire at the end of his term. He cited personal struggles with addiction as a contributing factor to his decision. He was seriously injured in a car crash last October and was charged with driving under the influence in a separate crash. According to a statement from Dowling, the addiction, in this case, was alcohol, and while he stated that no one is above the law, he has faith in a fair and impartial justice system.
