Governor Larry Hogan used yesterday’s state Board of Public Works meeting to again call for the suspension of the gas tax. Hogan says he is planning to do everything in his power to suspend the additional tax, which went into effect last Friday. The Governor added that he is prepared to immediately sign a gas tax suspension into law to ”provide much more needed relief for crushing costs, which are burdening families and small businesses.” Senate President Bill Ferguson and House Speaker Adrienne Jones disagree, saying another gas tax holiday would impact money needed for infrastructure improvements, such as roads and bridges, and should only come at the national level from President Biden.
