A decorated West Virginia vet from World War Two has died. Grafton-native Otha Compton died over the weekend at the age of 100. He was the last surviving member of the destroyer USS John Hood. After the war Compton worked in the coal industry, in real estate, insurance and built the Compton Bowling Lanes on Old Route 50 East. He was awarded three Bronze Stars, the Victory Medal and Asiatic and Pacific ribbons.
