The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is accepting applications for the 2022 black bear hunt lottery. For the first time, a Saturday hunt is planned. The open dates will be from October 24th through the 29th in Allegany, Frederick, Garrett, and Washington Counties. DNR will issue 950 hunting permits this year. The goal of the hunt is to slow the increase of Maryland’s black bear population and to limit the expansion of bears into the eastern suburbs and cities.
