Thirty-nine-year-old Cumberland resident James William Roy was charged with second-degree assault and is being held without bond. Police were called to a Boone Street residence, with a woman claiming Roy had grabbed her and punched her in the back of the head. Officers observed that she sustained injuries in the attack, and he was arrested. He received a District Court hearing and was ordered held without bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.
