DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORATION INVESTING $88 MILLION FOR NORTH-SOUTH HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENTS

The Maryland Department of Transportation plans to invest nearly $88 million in funding for north-south highway improvement projects in Allegany and Garrett counties. The largest portion of that money, $75million, will be used for improvements to U.S. Route 219, from Old Salisbury Road to the Pennsylvania line. That would complete the state’s portion of Route 219, which would transform the north-south corridor into a modern, four-lane highway. Another portion of the funding would provide for improvements to the triangle in Cresaptown, which encompasses Route 220, Warrior Drive and Winchester Road.
