HUNDREDS OF PA. HEALTHCARE WORKERS ON STRIKE AFTER NEGOTIATIONS BREAK DOWN

Workers from 14 nursing homes throughout the Keystone State are on strike after contract negotiations broke down last week.  Authorities say some 700 unionized healthcare workers walked off the job last week, citing issues over pay, benefits and staffing levels.  The strikers’ departure reportedly affects homes in a dozen counties statewide.  Workers at four other nursing homes in western Pennsylvania reportedly will join the strike next week Friday if current strikers can’t reach an agreement.
