Margaret Wright has been appointed as Acting Health Officer for Allegany County, succeeding Janelle Mayer who is stepping down after serving as Health Officer for six years. Ms. Wright will assume her duties on Wednesday. Her appointment will continue until a permanent health officer is appointed. She will work closely with the Maryland Department of Health and local partners, and will have the powers and duties of a Health Officer, as assigned by law and delegated by the Maryland Secretary of Health.
