A 39-year-old Annapolis man is charged with sending a threatening message to U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas. Federal prosecutors in Baltimore say investigators traced the threatening and profane message to the IP address and work computer of Justin Kuchta. U.S. Attorney Erek Barron says people have the right to their own opinions, but not the right to threaten a federal official’s life and these types of threats will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. If convicted, Kuchta faces a maximum of five years in federal prison.
