During a visit to Western Maryland this week, Sixth District Congressman David Trone says that $4.8 million in funding is being included in the federal government’s 2023 budget. Trone had met some challenges in trying to secure funding for the bridge; last year’s funding request was part of congressional member’s community projects, known as earmarks. This year, it is not. Cumberland Mayor Ray Morriss says it could take two years, at the earliest, before residents will see construction begin on the project.
