Republican West Virginia Senator Shelley Moore Capito is among a group of senators asking to have the mask mandate for children, and those working in the Head Start program, lifted. The mandate was put in place back in November of 2021. The group of 17 senators say the restrictions are no longer needed, and they cite World Health Organizations saying masks are no longer needed for children under the age of five. Head Start is still requiring the face masks on children over the age of two.
