The Centers for Disease Control has listed the community COVID level as “high” in Allegany County and “medium” in Garrett County. The local positivity rate is 12.8 per cent. The case rates per 100,000 residents in Allegany were nearly twice that of the state, at 31.65; statewide, the rate is 16.33. The Maryland State Department of Health reports just over 1200 new cases statewide. There have been seven additional deaths, but 26 fewer hospitalizations.
