MARYLAND JOBLESS RATE JUMPS ABOVE FOUR PER CENT

Maryland’s unemployment rate is back above four percent.  At four-point-three percent, the rate is up from three-point-nine percent in July.  The rate went up even though the state added 55-hundred jobs.  State labor officials say the increase is due to a jump in the number of people looking for work.  They are only considered unemployed if they don’t have a job and are actively searching for work.
