A Cumberland resident, 58-year-old Brian Elsworth Johnson was charged with making a false statement to a police officer and other counts in connection to a September 5th incident. Johnson came to the Cumberland Police Station to report he had been assaulted by a woman with a knife, She was arrested, but at her bond review hearing, Johnson admitted the incident never happened. He was arrested, received an initial appearance and released on $3,000 unsecured bond.
