MILLIONS IN UNPAID TURNPIKE FEES PROMPT NEW BILL PROPOSAL

Lawmakers are considering a bill that would bring accountability to Pennsylvania Turnpike travelers.  Minority chairman of the Transportation Committee, Senator Marty Flynn, is drafting legislation that requires anyone registering a vehicle in the state to be caught up on turnpike fees.  In the past year, 155-million dollars in turnpike fees went unpaid.  Flynn says it’s unfair to taxpayers, adding that is money that could go toward road improvements.
