COURT OF APPEALS SETS ARGUMENTS IN EARLY VOTE COUNT CASE

A dispute over the early start to mail-in ballot counting in Maryland is heading to the state highest court.  The Maryland Court of Appeals is scheduled to hear arguments in the case on Friday.  Last week, a lower court denied an appeal to place a hold on the early canvassing of ballots filed by Republican candidate for Governor, Dan Cox.  He claims a judge’s decision to allow vote-counting before Election Day is unconstitutional and the Maryland Board of Elections is now asking the state’s highest court to fast-track a decision on Cox’s appeal.
