MARYLAND ATTORNEY GENERAL’S OFFICE ASKS FOR PAUSE IN SYED CASE

Maryland’s Attorney General is asking a judge to put Adnan Syed’s case on hold pending the outcome of an appeal by the family of murder victim Hae Min Lee. The Lee family appealed a judge’s decision to vacate Syed’s murder conviction saying last month’s hearing was set on short notice and they could only take part via Zoom. The AG’s office says in a motion that the Lee’s appeal should be addressed before any further actions are taken. Syed is on home release while the Baltimore State’s Attorney’s Office decides whether to try him again or dismiss the charges.
