For the fifth straight year, Columbia, Maryland has been named the safest city in America. Columbia took top honors in a study of the Safest Cities in America by the financial advice website WalletHub. The report looked at more than 180 cities across the country and ranked them based on home and community safety, natural-disaster risk, and financial safety. According to the study, Nashua, New Hampshire was the second-safest city in America. Baltimore ranked 161st out of 182 safest cities in America. Charm City moved up a few spots in this year’s survey from 164th in 2021 to 161st this year.
