Maryland leaders are excited for the new Hitachi Rail factory that’s coming to Washington County. Speaking this week, Governor Hogan called it a ‘transformational project’ and an ‘absolute game changer’ for Maryland. The factory will be solely responsible for building more than 250 new 8000-series railcars for Metro. Around 460 jobs will come with the deal that’s set to be complete in 2024.
