MAN DEAD FOLLOWING HIGH SPEED PURSUIT IN WEST VIRGINIA

Police traveled through two West Virginia counties to try to stop a reckless driver, but in the end, he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office tried to stop Austin Michael Roher, but he eluded them. The chase eventually ended on Lobo Lane in Berkeley County; as law enforcement officers gave verbal commands for Roher to exit the vehicle. When he didn’t, Berkeley County deputies found him with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was taken to the Berkeley Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
