LOCAL CHAMBERS IN PA. DISMAYED ABOUT BUSINESS’ UNEMPLOYMENT TAXES

Chambers of commerce members from across Pennsylvania are upset that lawmakers didn’t clear up a dilemma with unemployment compensation taxes before they left town.  The problem stemmed from the way the state calculated the taxes for over 27-hundred businesses during the COVID pandemic. The state switched many businesses to a standard rating when they reopened after the pandemic, which led to higher taxes. The chambers say they hope the lawmakers will make the issue a priority when they return to session in mid-November.
