Penn State’s president says the school won’t start up its proposed Racial Justice Center after all. Spotlight PA reports that President Neeli Bendapudi announced the decision late last week, saying funding for the program was deemed to be more impactful if it was used elsewhere. The school had committed to the program following 2020 protests against racism and police brutality. School officials say the center would have cost at least three-and-a-half-million-dollars over five years.
