PROSECUTORS SAYS SYED CASE NOTES WERE MISINTERPRETED

The Baltimore Assistant State’s Attorney who prosecuted Adnan Syed in 2000 says a note that helped in Syed’s release was misinterpreted.  The Baltimore Banner reports that Kevin Urick re-created a transcript of a call that allegedly pointed to a suspect other than Syed in the 1999 killing of Hae Min Lee.  State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby says Urick withheld that evidence, but he says a footnote on the transcript of his handwritten note referred to Syed threatening Lee who was his former girlfriend. In a statement Mosby says her office stands by its investigation and ultimate finding that there’s no credible evidence that Syed was involved in the death of Ms. Lee.
