WES MOORE ELECTED GOVERNOR

Democrat Wes Moore will be Maryland’s next governor, defeating Republican Dan Cox. Moore launched his campaign in June of 2021 with running mate Aruna Miller, a former state delegate who represented Maryland’s 15th District for nine years. Former Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown was elected Attorney General; in the U.S. Senate race, Chris Van Hollen won re-election over Chris Chaffee. Maryland residents also approved the legalization of recreational marijuana in a constitutional amendment  by a nearly 2 to 1 margin. Recreational marijuana won’t be legal until July of next year, provided the General Assembly pass legislation in the 2023 session regarding distribution, regulation and taxation of cannabis.
