MAN ARRESTED FOR INTENTIONALLY SETTING FIRE AT MISSION

A man who had been staying at the Union Rescue Mission in Cumberland, has been arrested for intentionally setting a fire there. Thirty-one-year-old Keith Wayne Bergdoll was charged on Monday. He had told investigators he started the fire, hoping to make the shelter safer, expressing concern there was no smoke alarm in his bedroom. The fire caused about $2,000 in damage to the building, where there were 22 men and workers. Bergdoll, who was charged with first-degree arson and two counts of second-degree malicious burning, is being held without bail at the Allegany County Detention Center.
