Baltimore Police are investigating a grim milestone for the city — the eighth consecutive year when the city has recorded at least 300 homicides. The 300th murder happened Saturday night on Spelman Road in South Baltimore. The victim was a 34-year-old man who died later at a hospital. The city’s 301st murder happened yesterday afternoon on St. Benedict Street in Southwest Baltimore. The Fraternal Order of Police places the blame for the continuing violence on the lack of enough officers to handle all of the crimes.
