STATE AUDIT FINDS MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN JOBLESS BENEFITS IMPROPERLY SPENT DURING THE PANDEMIC

A state audit has found that millions of dollars in jobless benefits were improperly allocated in Maryland during the pandemic.  The report also found the state Division of Unemployment Insurance also did not have procedures in place to help detect and prevent duplicate payments.  The audit found that more than 43-million dollars in potential duplicate payments were made over a year’s time during the pandemic.
