RAIL STRIKE COULD DEVASTATE THE COAL INDUSTRY

The potential for a nationwide shutdown of rail service would have a devastating effect on the coal industry.  West Virginia Coal Association President Chris Hamilton is hopeful that the work stoppage on December 5th can be avoided.  Hamilton says a railroad strike while the coal industry is still struggling to recover from the COVID pandemic would be a huge blow.  Nearly 70-percent of the coal mined in the Mountain State is transported in a rail car.
