HOME ENERGY PRICES COULD SPIKE AS MUCH AS 30% THIS WINTER

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission says home energy prices could spike as much as 30 percent this winter. In a news release, the commission says the price for electricity will go up for almost all utility companies in the state as of December 1st. The price hike reflects charges to generate and supply electricity, which generally make up about 40 percent of a customer’s bill. Costs for natural gas are also expected to jump by similar percentages.
