FIRE DAMAGES PILGRIM’S PRIDE FACILITY

A fire damaged a portion of the Pilgrim’s Pride plant in Moorefield early yesterday morning. Fire departments from Hardy, Grant, and Hampshire counties responded around 1:15 a.m. to find the fire in the facility’s thermal fluid boiler room, which is where oil is heated, that goes into their fryers. A four-inch gas line had also broken, further fueling the fire. Pilgrim’s Pride officials have not indicated the extent of damage, or if any portion of the plant is closed, due to the fire. The cause is under investigation, and nobody was injured.
