GOVERNOR HOGAN BANS SOME FOREIGN SOCIAL PLATFORMS

Governor Larry Hogan is banning the use of foreign digital platforms like Tik-Tok by state government officials.  The governor used an emergency directive to prohibit their use saying those platforms supported by China and Russia present a cybersecurity risk to the state.  Hogan says the move is to prepare for and address cybersecurity threats.  State agencies must remove all hardware and software connected to the platforms within the next two weeks.  South Dakota and South Carolina’s governors have issued similar bans.
