West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey wants West Virginians to be mindful when donating this holiday season. Morrisey said this week to beware of those who “may prey upon the goodwill of others.” The warning comes during his Holiday Consumer Protection Week, as people consider donating to charity for the holidays. Some tips offered by the AG’s office include watching out for charities asking for cash or donations over wire transfer, and going straight to the organization’s website to make a donation. Morrisey also noted those thinking of giving back can check the AG’s website to check the legitimacy of a charity.
