GARRETT COUNTY ISSUES OVERDOSE ALERT

Due to a recent increase in overdoses, the Garrett County Health Department has issued an overdose alert. Officials are uncertain what is causing the spike, but it may be due to the presence of fentanyl. It is nearly 100 times more potent than heroin, and is being mixed with other drugs like heroin, cocaine, and meth to increase potency, which also increases the likelihood of an overdose or death. Persons interested in being trained in issuing doses of the antidote, sometimes referred to by the brand name Narcan, should call the Garrett County Health Department at (301)-334-7724.
