A special session is set for this week so state lawmakers can pass a constitutional amendment giving victims of childhood sexual abuse more leeway to pursue civil remedies. State officials say the move was predicated by a failure of state authorities to properly advertise the amendment which, if enacted, would provide a two-year window for victims to file previously time-sensitive claims. That failure reportedly prompted the resignation of now-former Pennsylvania Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar in early 2021.
