GOVERNOR-ELECT, BLACK LEADERS TO GATHER AT CITY DOCK BEFORE INAUGURATION

Governor-elect Wes Moore will join other prominent Black Marylanders at the City Dock in Annapolis before today’s inauguration.  They will take part in a closed ceremony at the site which is one of the locations where enslaved Africans first arrived in the Americas. Moore says it’s a sacred place and it’s important to acknowledge that he will be sworn-in as Maryland’s first Black governor just blocks away. Former Republican Lt. Governor Michael Steel and outgoing Lt. Governor Boyd Rutherford will also be there along with Democratic U.S. Congressman Kweisi Mfume.
